Often, we worry about money. We become anxious when we think about financial security. The Bible gives us guidance and wisdom in times of financial need.
The holy words of God encourage us not to worry about our needs because the Lord is our sustainer. He supplies food for the birds in the sky and grows the lilies in the field. Instead of worrying about money, we need to focus on God’s kingdom and His righteousness. If we do so, then our needs will be provided. God wants us to rely on him so he will be glad to provide our daily needs.
The story of the widow’s offering gives us a lesson when we worry about money. The widow donated all she possessed, though it was a small amount. Jesus praised her because she emptied herself, trusting that the heavenly Father would take care of her. This teaches us that our faith and trust in God are more needed than the amount of money we have.
The story of the rich young man surprises us with how money can block us from entering heaven. He was quite wealthy but failed to follow Jesus. His love for money kept him away from Christ. Having excessive wealth can be a stumbling block for our spiritual journey.
We can find peace when we trust God and seek his kingdom. Worrying about money separates us from God and leads us to despair. We should pray for God’s guidance that will help us manage our daily needs with what we have.
Let us not worry about money since the Lord knows our needs before we ask him. He loves us and cares for us even when we don’t honor him.
